Our Story
Mike & Carolyn Reimer and family.
Our family has always liked caring for animals, growing nutritious food, and making things from scratch. So, our 29 acre farm in the city of Winnipeg has given us many opportunities to experiment.
We love sitting down with our five kids, their spouses and friends to enjoy a hot meal of roast beef, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, a lettuce salad, and maybe a pumpkin pie! The best part is sharing around the table, but there is also great satisfaction knowing that almost everything on our plates was grown on our farm in the most sustainable way possible.
We didn't start off with the plan to make a profit from farming. It all started with ten laying hens, then filling an empty field with a package of pumpkin seeds, and raising chickens on our pasture. An alpaca named Cuzco with a serious attitude joined our crew early on ... just because ... just because he reminds us of Bolivia where we lived for 13 years doing mission work. Four pregnant cows joined us on a day in May that we'll never forget (ask us for the story which is too long to write here!). These cows and their calves (and those that have followed) have tamed and improved our pasture as they are moved daily to fresh grass.
By then, we had far too much for our family to consume and we quickly found that friends and neighbours also enjoyed our local products and our little business was born.
